What is Self-Esteem
What is self-esteem?
Self – esteem according to Collins Dictionary Your
self-esteem is how you feel about yourself. For example, if you have low
self-esteem, you do not like yourself, you do not think that you are a valuable
person, and therefore you do not behave confidently.
Poor self-esteem is at the centre of many of the
difficulties we experience.
Our self – esteem is the impression that you have of yourself, how you feel about yourself sometimes. How we perceive ourselves.
You may sometimes take validation off other people’s
opinions of your this can have a detrimental effect on your self-esteem.
You also may take validation from circumstances in your life,
when life is challenging this can also be detrimental to your self-esteem. You may see yourself as a failure, not likeable,
not loveable.
Sometimes your perception of yourself may not be how others
see you, we can get stuck in a cycle of a negative perception of yourself.
To improve your self- esteem developing a self-concept for
yourself and working towards it, can improve how you see yourself, as you work towards your aims and as you achieve them you will believe in yourself more.
