Social Wellbeing

What is social wellbeing?

Social wellbeing is having the ability to connect in society and feeling valued as a member and feel connected to a wider society. This can be in our local community, society as a whole and the environment where we live.  When we have a connection, our social wellbeing can allow us to bond with others.

How can you achieve a social wellbeing? You can take part in a community improvement, you can volunteer for a local sports club, help to keep your local community tidy, support local charities.

When you offer your time in the local community it will allow you to improve your social wellbeing.

Over the last 16 years I have done various voluntary posts coaching young athletes in athletics and recently became a mentor for 1 million mentors where I offer support to a mentee on the start of their journey in life.  Some time I have been asked “why do you give your time for nothing?” my reply always is “What I get when I see what a young person achieves when they learn to believe in themselves is worth more than any money can offer”.

That is when you know you are achieving social wellbeing.
